Phoenix mall at Lower Parel: One of the best and oldest mall around. To be seen here are bombay blue and dominos pizza. It also has one cool disc (haven't been there), sports bar, big bazaar, pantaloons, naturals, noodle bar, MacD etc.

one of the walls filled with Satajit ray's pic at Oh! Calcutta

Oh! Calcutta at tardeo, mumbai:

It's Ganesh utsav and traffic is going from bad to worse. It took me 2 hrs to reach home ...almost 1 hr from andheri to juhu. I told my flatmates that I can walk faster than the bus and proved it!

Mumbai! is still awesome...I went to Gateway of India and Marine drive, Had fun at worli sea face and then finally at the hep Zenzi bar...Zenzi is one the most sexy and hep bar in Bandra ...Music, crowd and drinks are of supreme quality...but what I like most about is that they don't ask for a cover charge! They have these salsa dance sessions on Sundays which are simply awesome...a must visit. Worli sea face on the other hand is also a must visit when it's high tide

Mumbai simply rocks. A person like me who comes here(from a North Indian sleepy town of patna and/or kanpur) typically goes through this experience in 3 different phases. First is the phase of "wow"...the awestruck feeling...watching all those cool buildings with Gothic architecture and all. Then comes the part where the person starts looking for a home(okie I didn't do that), traveling is nightmarish with auto rikshaws suck out tons of money from your pocket. This is the phase of desperation. City soon starts looking dull and ugly and dirty...desperation kicks in. Then comes the third phase...i.e. when I got my first paycheck and went around...even a salsa bar ...This is the phase when you start realizing that city is not being rude to you...it's just being practical. I mean people travel on these crowded locals not only to save money, but because it's the fastest way to travel. A friend came to city and we left at like 10 pm for Vashi (it's like on the other side of the Mumbai) and I went there, dropped her and came back...all in like 2 hours...it's almost 20 kms away from where I live...that means 40 kms in 2 hrs...by road it would take 4 hours. So if people say that this city is being heartless when it goes to work next day of the bomb blasts on the same locals ...I disagree...I think it's just being practical. Had you seen the 2 minute silence observed a few days after the blasts ..you'd have realized the kind of strength this city has. I have never seen a city stop for 2 minutes for a prayer.

Welcome to Mumbai! I am starting this new blog based totally and completely on Mumbai. I reached here on 20th June 2006 and left immediately for Goa! Goa is another story(will tell sometime later). Came back on 23rd morning and joined my first job. Job is well fine but the best part is that they are giving us accommodation! (generous firm). After reading the 'shared-bachelor-accommodation' bit, I was a little disappointed to say the least. Then at the end of the first day, they gave us(we were four us living together) the keys of our apartment. The address was Maneck mahal, Juhutara road. I said to myself 'blah it's not even juhu...what the fuck is juhutara!' (suddenly memories of a very sweet girl, I used to date, with a similarly sounding name came to my mind). So we started our journey through the Mumbiya-hellish-traffic (It's really bad). After a two hour of asking every passerby the address, we finally reached our home. And after 5 mins I said Good god! It's a 7 storied apartment block right at the Juhu beach!!! My apartment is on the fifth floor and has a great view of the city and the slums around :P!, though there is also a glimpse of the beach :). All excited, I called my sister and told her that I got a flat at Juhu beach. She was all jealous (mu hahaha!). Few days later she told me that her mumbaiya friends told her that at Juhu people can't even find a toilet!!, how come your brother found such a big flat!(I told her that it's insanely huge...not completely false though). So much for the first day! rest later
